A brave eight-year-old girl sang in front of more than 50 people at a Horsham cafe to raise money for her auntie who was recently diagnosed with bowel cancer.

Hannah Mattison belted out four popular tracks with her mum Cath, 44, to supporters at The Olive Tree in North Heath Lane recently.

“It was absolutely heaving to the point where there was no floor space,” said Cath, whose sister Veronica Turner, 46, underwent an operation to remove part of her bowel in a bid to beat the disease.

Veronica is a singer, and the idea to step into her shoes to raise money was Hannah’s.

“I was absolutely delighted and so overwhelmed with her whole attitude,” Cath continued.

“She understands the nature of a cancer diagnosis and the devastation that it can bring.”

The duo, who perform as Cannah, raised nearly £100 on the day.

All proceeds will go towards cancer research.

“Hannah got the biggest round of applause and somebody even asked her for an autograph,” added Cath, who thanked those who turned out to support the event.

The family aim to raise as much as possible for the cause.

Anyone who wishes to donate can contact Cath by emailing cathmattison@googlemail.com
