A BEACH hut craftsman could be £3,000 better off following the final whistle of England’s World Cup game against Costa Rica this afternoon.
Scott Jardine, 41, of Worthing, put a £5 stake on Group D outsiders Costa Rica to win all three of their group games at 600/1.
Alex Donohue, from Ladbrokes, said: “We admire his bravery, he has clearly worked out that sometimes when England are involved you need to bet with your head and not your heart.
“If the bet is a winner it will end up being among the longest odds payouts of the entire World Cup which is very impressive.
“Win or lose we wish him all the best.”
Against the odds, Costa Rica have beaten both Italy and Uruguay on their way to qualifying for the tournament’s last 16.
England will field a much-changed starting 11 following the two defeats which dumped them out of the competition.
The game kicks off at 5pm.
