Empty office in Chichester to turn into shop

OFFICE space opposite Chichester Magistrates’ Court will be turned into a shop.

The ground floor of Midland House, in Market Avenue, will also have alterations made to the south and east sides of the building.

Planning permission was granted this week by Chichester District Council.

According to the application’s design and access statement, the office space has been vacant since January, 2012, and despite extensive marketing no new tenant has been found.

A prospective tenant for the shop is identified in the statement as Clearwell Mobility, a supplier of mobility equipment and home healthcare products in the UK.

The company is looking to have a presence in Chichester and the site in Market Avenue fits the company’s specifications, according to the statement.
