West Sussex County Council has seeking permission to build an extension on Heron Way Primary School in Horsham.

In the documents submitted to Horsham District Council the county council outlines its plans to remodel the existing school and extend it to enable the school roll to increase from a 1.5 form entry (315 pupils) to two form entry (420 pupils).

It is part of the county council’s plans to expand primary schools in the Horsham, Billingshurst Hassocks Haywards Heath East Grinstead and Crawley areas to cope with increased numbers of pupils in the county. Millais Girls School in Horsham is also in line for major improvements.

Proposed accommodation at Heron Way Primary School includes four new classrooms, new halls, associated stores, kitchen and toilets and external areas will be remodelled to provide increased play areas and staff parking.

The plans can be viewed on the district council planning site by quoting application number DC/13/0559.
