The council is seeking to speed up the transfer of land needed to build a replacement leisure centre in Broadbridge Heath.
Horsham District Council committed itself to opening a new £7.3m leisure centre to replace some of the facilities at Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre in July 2012.
However under outline planning permission granted to Countryside Properties in 2011 for 963 homes the land needed for the new centre would not be released until 500 properties are occupied.
Next Tuesday HDC’s development control north committee will decide whether or not to allow a re-negotiation of the current legal agreement.
The publication of a report recommending the demolition of the site by HDC in November 2011 sparked angry protests, and while the centre could not be saved, the council committed itself to building a replacement leisure centre last July.
For a full report of the meeting see next Thursday’s County Times.
