The football club was broken into earlier this week, some time between Tuesday night (February 9) and Wednesday morning (February 10), and hundreds of pounds worth of soft drinks and sweets were stolen from inside.

The intruders also caused significant damage to the building, leading to costly repairs for the local club.

However, since making the news public, the football club has been inundated with messages of support and donations to help cover the costs.

In a statement posted on the club’s website, Dan Palmer said: “When I put this out, I wasn’t expecting anything, I just wanted to let our community know what had happened. It really does restore your faith when people step forward like this.”

Acting chairman Sue Norwood said: “The club has a dedicated group of volunteers that work extremely hard just to keep football in Peacehaven. When something like this happens it’s a real hammer blow, but to know there are lots of caring and thoughtful people who think as much of the club as we do and want to keep football in Peacehaven, is heartening indeed.”

So far, more than £200 has been donated. For more information, contact Dan Palmer on 07713 907630.
