Cadets marching under new standard

Army cadets from Shoreham receive the 250 cheque from Chief Inspector Jo Banks

ARMY Cadets from Shoreham will be proudly marching under a new standard this year.

The detachment had been struggling to find the money to replace their ageing banner, when Sussex Police stepped in.

The money came following a successful application to the Sussex Police Property Fund, which uses the proceeds of crime to support community initiatives and help many worthy causes across the county.

Chief Inspector Jo Banks visited the cadets at their base, in Eastern Avenue, to present them with a £250 cheque.

Colonel Anthony Lamb, county commandant of Sussex Army Cadet Force, said “We are extremely grateful to Sussex Police for recognising the value that the Army Cadet Force adds to the local community.

“Our cadets participate in a number of formal events throughout the year and this money will allow the Shoreham detachment to replace their ageing standard with something much more appropriate.”

The Shoreham group meets on Mondays and Wednesdays, 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
