Horsham District Council is continuing to maintain service as usual during the current and predicted severe weather.

A summary of what’s happening to Horsham District Council services as at 11.30am on Monday 21 January 2013 is given below:

Household refuse and recycling collections

Household refuse and recycling collections are being collected where possible in the Horsham District but some areas this is not likely to happen owing to the dangerous driving conditions.

An estimated 80 to 90 per cent of household refuse and recycling collections were completed on Friday 18 January 2013.

Residents due to have their refuse and recycling collected today onwards, including those who did not have collections on Friday 18 January, are asked to make their bins ready for collection; bins will be emptied as soon as possible after the weather improves.

Other Horsham District Council services

Horsham District Council’s services are still being maintained as far as possible.

Vulnerable residents, including those who use the Council’s ‘Community Link’ alarm, have been and are being contacted to check if they are safe. Council staff and neighbours are also being asked to check if any vulnerable neighbours have enough food and heat in the current weather conditions.

Council leisure centres and entertainment venues remain open until further notice.

Help and advice from Horsham District Council continues to be available for the homeless and others in housing need.

Gritting of public areas

Staff at Horsham District Council have been assisting West Sussex County Council in its task of spreading grit in public areas.
