A DONATION from police will help adults with learning disabilities supported by the Aldingbourne Trust.

The £250 donation from Sussex Police means those helped by the trust will be able to work towards enhancing their work skills.

Workaid manager Rachel Smither said: “The Aldingbourne Trust is delighted to link with Sussex Police, to enhance opportunities for people with Learning Disabilities.

“The entire donation of £250 will be used to purchase resources for bespoke training programmes, designed to develop our candidates’ work skills and employability.

“The Aldingbourne Trust is also keen to build upon its links with Sussex Police, to create employment prospects for people with learning disabilities.”

Community engagement sergeant for West Sussex Peter Allan presented the trust with the cheque on January 29.

Sgt Allan said: “Sussex Police is pleased to be able to assist an organisation whose aim is to support, educate and empower people with learning disabilities to realise their full potential.”

The donation comes from the Police Property Act Fund (PPAF), made up of monies received by the police from property confiscated by order of the court and then sold.

The trust is a charity which supports adults with learning disabilities to lead independent lives and have the same opportunities as everyone else.
