The county council will debate controversial proposals to cut £55m over the next two years as part of an overall £141m savings package today (Friday December 13).

The West Sussex County Council meeting will be webcast on its website from 10.30am.

Both union UNISON and campaign group Don’t Cut us Out have criticised WSCC in recent weeks for not revealing how the ‘staggering sums’ will affect residents in West Sussex.

Last week Louise Goldsmith (Con, Chichester West), leader of WSCC, emphasised that they were proposals at this stage and no final decisions would be taken until the budget meeting in February.

An announcement on council tax for 2014/15 is also expected to be made today.

For a report of meeting see our website later today.
