Sussex Building Control, the local authority building control service for Horsham District Council and Crawley Borough Council picked up two prestigious prizes at the recent LABC South East Building Excellence Awards.
Sussex Building Control won the Best Large Housing Development Award along with Berkeley Homes for its ‘Highwood’ site off the A24 in Horsham.
It also won the Best Partnership Award with a local authority building control service for its close working relationship with Denne, a Bouygues UK Company, and Saxon Weald.
More than 270 people from the construction industry across the South East of England attended the awards at the Grand Hotel in Brighton on Friday June 28.
Claire Vickers, HDC cabinet member for living and working communities, said:“Well done to Sussex Building Control for picking up these well deserved awards.
“Not only was Horsham District Council thrilled at receiving these accolades, I know Berkeley Homes, Denne and Saxon Weald were also delighted to have been recognised for their work and rewarded with an award.”
Paul Everall, LABC chief executive, said: “Our regional building excellence awards are an opportunity to celebrate good practice.
“All our winners demonstrated how attention to detail and a positive working relationship with Building Control departments can achieve high quality and sustainable buildings fit for the future.
“Our awards are unique because they recognise how the work of local authority surveyors helps to improve building standards and boost sustainability and efficiency.”
The four organisations will now be entered for the LABC National Building Excellence Awards where they will be competing against all regional winners from across England and Wales.
