Last week Collyer’s students and staff actively supported the Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning.
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan Cancer Support’s key fundraising event of the year and asks people across the UK - and sometimes further afield - to hold a coffee morning, where donations on the day are made to Macmillan.
In a coffee morning run by the canteen ladies at Collyer’s, £196 was raised by selling homemade cakes, including victoria sandwich, scones with jam & cream, lemon cake, apple crumble cake, shortbread & chocolate muffins. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate was also on tap.
Debbie Pitfield, Catering Manager, was thrilled with the event: “It was a great team effort form the canteen and everyone seemed to enjoy the morning”.
Collyer’s Principal Dr Jackie Johnston added: “The coffee morning was fantastic and it was great to see the Collyer’s community really coming together to support the outstanding work of the Macmillan Cancer Support charity.”
