Collyer’s are building up to the 30th Challenge of Management day next month.
The popular and successful event forms part of the college’s “Planning Your Future” initiative and gives students a taste of the real world of business management.
The event, which will take place at the Holbrook Club in Horsham on the 2nd of July, will enable teams of ten students, each led by a top representative from the business community, to compete throughout the day in a number of business games and team building exercises.
Collyer’s Melanie Hargreaves said: “An incredible amount of work goes into planning the Challenge of Management, but it will all be worth it on the big day in July. We are grateful to all the business advisors who lead the teams, as this is an invaluable insight for your students!”
Business representatives supporting the event will be coming from: Accenture, Assurity Consulting Ltd, Experian Footfall, and HSBC; Marks and Spencers PLC, Media Word Waves and Young Start-Up Talent; Nestle, Royal and Sun Alliance, Sam’s Kitchen, South Lodge Hotel; Spofforths LLP and United Airlines.
Lucy Hargreaves, who is working with Melanie Hargreaves to plan this year’s event, said: “We’re very excited and proud to be welcoming such a fantastic range of experts from the region’s business community. It promises to be a very special 30th birthday celebration for Challenge of Management!”
Collyer’s Senior Tutor, Ian McAlister, has been involved in planning many of the events over the years. Ian said: “This has been such a dynamic day for students over the past 30 years, a real chance to explore those transferable skills.
“Challenge of Management can form the basis of a whole section of your personal statement or CV and gives students the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities and provide practical examples of these beyond the classroom.”
Vice Principal Steve Nicholls said: “The event has certainly moved with the times over the past 30 years and we are very proud of its continued success. At the end of the day, what could be better? A chance to shine, prove yourself, network with local business leaders and enjoy a free lunch!”
