Club in Aldwick wants more space for its members
EXTRA room is wanted by a booming club in Rose Green.
The Aldwick branch of the Royal British Legion is seeking extra space at its premises on Hewarts Lane.
It has applied to Arun District Council for planning permission to build a single-storey extension to the building.
Branch planning agent Bryan Butcher says in a statement: “Following the closure of Bognor Regis Royal British Legion in Bognor town centre, membership has increased, providing the necessity for an enlarged hall with added facilities.
“The extension is proposed to the eastern side of the club alongside a public footpath linking Robins Drive to Hewarts Lane on an unused part of the surrounding tarmacadam areas.”
He states the extension was intended to be built on the spot where an open-sided shelter received permission in 2008.
The additional rooom will add 71 sq m to the club, according to the plans.
It will be used to house a new kitchen, the existing office and gents’ and ladies’ toilets, and a new disabled toilet and baby changing facilities added.
It will create a larger seating area in the main hall.
