A DRIVER has said he will not use a car washing service at a Chichester supermarket again, after claiming his car was dented during a wash.

Jeremy Barker had been shopping at the Tesco store near the Fishbourne roundabout, with his wife and two children, when they used the car wash, run by a company called IMO.

Halfway through the wash, he said there was a ‘bang’, and afterwards there was a dent in the roof of his Mercedes E-Class Estate.

After the incident, he said staff members were unsure how it could have happened.

Initially, the car-washing company offered him £50 for the repair. However, after he contacted the Observer the company fixed the damage.

Mr Barker questioned Tesco letting companies operate car-washing facilities in the car parks.

Asked if he would use the service again, he said there was ‘no way’, adding he was worried it would happen again.

A spokesman for IMO said: “It is evident that the issue was no fault of the machinery but regardless we have found a very positive conclusion to the matter.”
