National Poetry Day was celebrated by everyone at Marriott House and Lodge care home.

The Chichester home was a bard’s paradise on Thursday, October 6. Staff, residents and guests got in to the spirit of things with an afternoon of Poetry writing. Residents were helped by Amy Hayler, team leader of activities, to write a ‘Rainy Day’ poem.

Theresa Shell, general manager , said: “Our residents and staff love the opportunity to enjoy poetry and have their own poetry book on display in the home. This was a fantastic day to add to this, everyone has embraced poetry today and it’s been truly brilliant!”

A resident at Marriott House and Lodge said: “It has been a fun day. It was wonderful to see everyone go to so much effort to get into the poetic spirit. Before I moved in to the home I had never written a poem but I now attend the Creative Writing Afternoons every week. I love hearing limericks – they really make me laugh!”

Marriott House and Lodge has built up an excellent reputation within its local community for regularly holding events and activities for its residents and surrounding neighbours. They hold a community afternoon every Friday, these afternoons include community Bingo, Community Word games, Community Quizzes and much more.
