Judges selected the winner of a business competition where young people competed for a prize worth £50,000 to turn their business dream into a reality last week.

The winner of Young Start-up Talent, now in its third year and aimed at 16-25-year-olds in the Gatwick Diamond, will be announced at a Lingfield Park Hotel event on Thursday February 28.

Overall judges were impressed by the standard of entries was very high from all six finalists this year.

Matthew Tyson, director of Richard Place Dobson accountants, said: “I was most impressed with the detail covered in the business plans and forward thinking. It was fantastic to see the finalists rise to the challenge of presenting to the very daunting judging panel of eight businessmen.”

Others businesses represented were Thales UK, British Airways, Lloyds TSB Commercial, Mayo Wynne Baxter and the West Sussex County Times.

YST was founded by Lorraine Nugent and Matt Turner, managing directors of Media Word Waves and Creative Pod respectively.
