GROWING businesses in West Sussex are encouraged to capitalise on the London 2012 Games by attending a special event.

The Your Games, Your Business event aims to help growing businesses in the county to find new customers and increase profits off the back of The Games.

To be held at Gatwick’s Holiday Inn on Wednesday September 14, the free event is being hosted by Business Link and will include a keynote address from Matt Rogan of Lane4, the consultancy firm run by Olympic Gold Medallist Adrian Moorhouse.

Matt is an acknowledged expert on helping businesses achieve sustainable benefits by capitalising on the London Games. He is also the author of the book Britain and the Olympic Games: Past Present Legacy, which looks in detail at the business opportunities from the London 2012 Games.

“This is a once in a lifetime chance for local businesses to benefit from the commercial opportunities presented by such a prestigious global sporting occasion being held on home soil,” says Matt. “We’re keen to ensure that local businesses are not only aware of the wide range of opportunities, but also know what steps they can take to ensure their business takes full advantage of the Games, for both immediate and longer term commercial benefit. And I’m delighted that we’ll be joined on the day by at least one Olympic or Paralympic hopeful whose sheer determination to fulfil their sporting dreams will help to inspire and enthuse our business audience.”

The event will give growing businesses insight and guidance on how to prepare for the challenges ahead and create a sustainable legacy of further growth that will stand them and the region in good stead for years after the Games have ended. It will additionally include a series of specialist-subject break-out sessions focusing on:

How to win business contracts associated with the Games

Specific business opportunities for the retail, hospitality and tourism sectors

Planning and maintaining productivity during the Games

Opportunities to enter new markets and win customers overseas.

The event is one of a series of seven being held across the South East. Any business with five or more employees that’s keen to reserve their place at the Gatwick event should visit www.blseevents.co.uk or call 0845 600 9 006.
