A DERAILED train at Brighton station is causing severe disruptions to railway services across the Herald and Gazette area this afternoon.
An empty train derailed between the depot and Brighton station, with replacement bus services being sought.
A statement on the Southern Rail website said: “An empty passenger train has derailed at Brighton. This is causing delays of up to 90 minutes to trains at this station.
“Buses will run between Brighton and Worthing/Haywards Heath/Lewes to supplement the train service.
“Disruption is expected to continue until the end of service”
Rail tickets are being accepted by Brighton and Hove buses between Brighton and Shoreham and Stagecoach buses between Brighton and Littlehampton.
Some replacement bus services are currently operating between Brighton and Worthing.
