Author John Ralph (left) handed a cheque for £1,000 to Clem Watson, chairman of the Friends of the Priest House, West Hoathly, when the Friends celebrated the anniversary of the Coronation with cream teas in the garden of Fountain Cottage in the village. Mr Ralph donated the money from the profits of his book, Old West Hoathly, which he published last year and which has sold well.

The Priest House, a 15th century Weald hall house with its own cottage garden, is a museum owned by the Sussex Archaeological Society and is open to the public between March and October.
