THE biggest tabletop gaming convention on the south coast is being organised by a club that meets in Shoreham.
Gambit Games UK is marking its silver anniversary with its first gaming convention, Conquest, at Hove Town Hall on Saturday, September 27.
People of all ages will have the chance to take part in tournaments, demo games, casual play space, stalls, prizes and refreshments from 10am to 10pm.
The Iconic Legion costume group will also be there, dressed as figures like Batman, Judge Dredd and Stormtroopers and collecting money for Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice.
Club member Kevin Hearne said: “Black Box games, originators of the ever-popular Lords of War card game and a Worthing company, will be putting on demos and tournaments. These guys have just come back from demos and hosting a tournament in Germany.
“Dog Eared Games from Chichester will be putting on demos and tournaments, and miniatures-based Bolt Action, Warmachine, X-Wing and HeroClix will all be having their own tournaments.
“Prodos and Mantic games will be there demoing new games and we are also hopefully having a local band play in the evening, State of the Masses, as one of our members is the bass guitarist.”
Card-based tournaments will include Pokémon, Magic the Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh, and Upper Beeding teenager Samuel McLewee, who represented the UK in the world championships in America recently, is expected to make an appearance.
Tickets can be brought from www.gambitgames.co.uk, £7.50 adults, £5 under-16s in advance, or £10 on the door.
Gambit Games UK is a family club, with members aged from six upwards. It meets at the Royal George pub, in Upper Shoreham Road, Shoreham, on Tuesdays, 4.30pm to 10.30pm, and at The Scout Hut, Vale Park, Portslade, Portslade, on the last Sunday of the month.
