Yvonne Heater helped the 1st Angering Scout Group for almost 38 years. When she died 16 years ago, the group decided to honour her memory and hard work by making an award every year to someone in each of our four sections (Beavers, the two Cub Sections and Scouts).

Her daughter Sharon presented the awards at the groups HQs and told the winners they were not necessarily receiving the award because they were the best but because they had done their best. She said her mother had taught her that and she had never forgotten it.

The group’s celebration included a cake.

Sharon chose Cub Scout Thomas Bradley as he has helped his parents and grandparents through two difficult and sad situations. Earlier this year his cousin was diagnosed with having leukemia and a few weeks ago his grandfather died. Throughout this time Thomas been extremely brave and his smiles have cheered up the family. He continues to do his best to cheer up the family and friends when they are sad.
