Pupils and teachers at Arunside School are celebrating following their recent Ofstedreport which awarded them ‘good’ grading in all areas.
It praised good teaching, good progress of all pupils, good behaviour, good governance and the clear and resolute leadership of the Headteacher, Carol Slight.
The inspectors found lessons had imaginative activities that captured the pupils’ interests and developed their literacy and numeracy skills well.
The excellent teamwork between teachers and assistants was noted to ensure all pupils make progress.
The children enjoyed talking to the inspectors and sharing their learning which clearly underlined how proud they are of their school and how much they value the warm and trusting relationships that underpin their positive attitudes to learning.
The report states – ‘Pupils are polite, friendly and helpful. They are kind to each other and the older pupils are excellent role models for the younger ones.
‘Pupils form trusting relationships with staff and know that if they have any worries or concerns staff will help them.’
Staff and governors were delighted that the report recognised that the partnerships with parents were well established with the “open door” policy greatly appreciated. The on line OFSTED Parent View questionnaire reinforced this.
One Arunside pupil said: “Everyday is fun at my school. I love everything we do.”
