Now a major part of Arundel’s events calendar, and attracting thousands of people each year Arundel by Candlelight 2012 on December 8 will be full of Christmas Cheer, shopping and eating for all the family.
The Arundel Barnham and District Lions Club and the Arundel Chamber of Commerce have joined together in organising what they hope will be an enjoyable event encompassing the essence of the Christmas season and Arundel in Style (the Lions will be collecting for Chestnut Tree House Hospice).
In the town square, as the traditional tall Christmas Tree shines brightly against the early evening, the whole town will look very magical with shops, restaurants and houses decorated with trees, lights and candles as well as stalls selling a wide array of Christmas goodies.
Children are invited to make lanterns and then join the Candlelight Parade before visiting Santa in his grotto and taking a ride on the Carousel.
Families can walk safely through the town, taking in the atmosphere: listening to Christmas Carols as the scent of mulled wine, hog roast and roasted chestnuts fills the air.
The roads will be closed to traffic allowing people to mill around the shops and Christmas Market stalls safely, whilst browsing for the perfect gift.
Entertainment will include:
