The first Crawley’s Got Talent auditions were met with an ‘amazing’ response by auditionees - and there are still spaces left for your moment in the spotlight.
Scores of hopefuls danced, sang, and flaunted their talent at the Crawley’s Got Talent II auditions, in front of a panel of judges, on Saturday (March 23) and Sunday (March 24).
The auditions held at Three Bridges Community Centre and Furnace Green Community Centre, also saw a talented guitarist and two brothers - one of whom sang, while the other played accompaniment on the keyboard, perform.
But do not despair, if you think you have what it takes to wow the town and be crowned winner, there are still spaces to audition.
Although three sessions are already completely booked, there are still spaces left to audition at Tilgate Community Centre on Thursday April 4 from 3pm until 9pm.
And at the Redz Bar in Broadfield Stadium on Friday April 5 from noon until 6pm.
Organiser Vikki Jacobs, from Crawley Borough Council, said: “The response has been amazing and we’re keen to make sure we audition as many acts as we can fit in!”
Acts compete for the chance to win a top prize of £500 and to perform on stage at The Hawth at the final on May 18.
All ages are welcome. Entrants this year range from six years old to over 90.
Vikki continued: “As well as celebrating the diverse range of talent Crawley has to offer, the competition aims to break down barriers and perceptions between generations and encourage people to get involved in their community.”
Judges for the event include Crawley Town FC manager Richie Barker, and former TV Quiz host Paul Hendy.
Last year Thomas Bennett Community College pupil, Heather Illidge, who was 15 at the time, won, after performing On My Own from the hit musical Les Miserables. She was one of 19 finalist who took to the stage. The competition is a partnership project between Crawley Young Person’s Council and Vision in Youth Collective with support from Crawley Borough Council and sponsorship from Crawley Town Football Club.
