Colleagues from Sainsbury’s Horsham have raised £9,000 for Sport Relief.

Customers and staff got behind Sainsbury’s Horsham fundraising activities for this year’s Sport Relief, which began with a collection at Littlehaven Railway Station on March 17 followed by another one at Horsham Railway Station on Friday 18.

Colleagues and customers also took part in a 100metre rowing challenge with prizes and giveaways with the help of Dual Strenth and Fitness, Blatchford Road, Horsham which took place on Friday 18 and Saturday 19.

Jonnie Peacock, Paralympic champion and Active Kids Ambassador, has showed support for the store. He said: “Sport Relief gets bigger and better every time, and it has been brilliant to see such enthusiasm for this year’s event from Sainsbury’s colleagues nationwide.

“I’d like to thank all the Sainsbury’s colleagues and customers in Horsham for taking part in fundraising and helping make it another fantastic year for Sport Relief.

“Everyone knows how much good work Comic Relief charity does in the UK and abroad, so these funds will really make a difference.”

Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active, raise cash and change lives.

The money raised by the public is spent by Comic Relief to support some of the poorest and most disadvantaged people in the UK and around the world. 50 per cent of money raised is spent in the UK, supporting projects locally.

Paul Humphries, Store Manager at Sainsbury’s Horsham added: “I’m really proud of my colleagues and the amount of money we raised for Sport Relief this year. I’d like to thank our customers for their support.”
