A DRUG and alcohol service user-led project is set to receive £5,000 from West Sussex County Council for equipment to help them towards their recovery.
Arun Exact wants to set up a “recovery community” café in Bognor Regis town centre using an already-obtained building.
Here service users will be able to meet in safe and comfortable surroundings with like-minded people.
In addition the project hopes to offer people a variety of life skills, such as cooking on a budget, and improved literacy and numeracy skills.
Arun Exact made the successful bid to West Sussex County Council’s Social Enterprise Fund.
Michael Brown, Cabinet Member for Finance and Resources, said: “This is part of a much larger project that is looking at ‘whole person recovery’ and personalisation for the recovering addict.
“We have to think out of the box to help recovering service users link back with their communities.”
