WHERE do you seek help if you see an injured animal or a bird with a broken wing?
It is often difficult to know, but help is at hand from a new Mid Sussex group, which has been set up to come to the rescue.

Badger and Wildlife Protection Mid Sussex will act as a service for any wild animal or bird needing hospital treatment or veterinary care.

After a call from the public a member of the group will contact the Folly Wildlife Rescue Trust in Eridge Green near Tunbridge Wells for advice and, if necessary, will collect the casualty and take it to the trust for evaluation and treatment.

Founder member Angela Scrivens said: "We will attend road traffic accidents involving wildlife casualties, respond to household concerns relating to wildlife – regardless of species; in fact, just about anything where wildlife is in trouble."

Her colleague and fellow founding member Sonya Parker, added: "Protection, as our name implies, means we keep a check on any
wildlife habitats we are, or are made aware of. Planning applications
need to be closely checked with regard to any protected species, as this will require specific action by experts."

Between them, Sonya and Angela, who both live in Burgess Hill, have more than 20 years' experience working as wildlife field officers with Sussex based badger protection groups.

For information call the action line on 07960 294495 or 07528 594119.
