THREE men were arrested in Sussex in the early hours of today (Friday December 11), after a stolen car had been detected by a police Automatic Numberplate Recognition (ANPR) Camera.
The car, which had been reported stolen from Surrey earlier in the week, was spotted by an ANPR camera in North Sussex just after midnight.
Police followed the car and a van apparently accompanying it, and the car was abandoned outside St Catherine's Monastery on the A281 south of Cowfold.
The van was abandoned soon afterwards in Wineham Lane, Bolney, off the A272.
A police search of the area, involving ground units and the Sussex Police helicopter, swiftly resulted in the arrest of three men, two from the car and one from the van. Enquiries continue to trace a fourth man who fled the scene from the van.
Property found in the van includes hand tools, electrical tools, air hammers and compressors.
Three men, aged 17, 20 and 22, have now been transferred to Surrey Police at Staines, who are investigating a burglary at a business in nearby Ashford, Surrey, on Thursday evening December 10.
