Stones, minerals and crystals are at the heart of Milestones, a new exhibition in Chichester by Beth Stobbs.
Beth said: “Stones, minerals and crystals have always been important to people. From the earliest times, they have provided ornament, pigment, healing powers and currency as well as building materials.
“They have always been important personally to me too. Wherever I have been I have collected rocks and they provide a vivid memory base of visits and journeys or ‘milestones’ in my life.
“The exhibition Milestones, which takes place at the Oxmarket Centre of Arts in Chichester from April 4-16 is based on work around this theme. It contains paintings, collage and 3D work. One section consists of double canvasses – one a painting in oils depicting the essence of a crystal or mineral and an accompanying small canvas collaged with the actual stone itself. Another piece of work maps the journeys of many years in stones.
Milestones by Beth Stobbs is at the Oxmarket Centre of Arts, Chichester Monday-Saturday, April 4-16, 10am-4.30pm.
