The Lord Lieutenant of West Sussex, Capt Hugh Wyatt, unveiled the memorial and praised young people for their increasing involvement in remembrance services.

Horsham MP Francis Maude, representatives from West Sussex County Council, Horsham District Council and Southwater Parish Council, were all in attendance.

War memorial project manager Robin Grange said: "It has happened very quickly and has had great support from the village.

"Thank you to the businesses and community of Southwater for all their generous support."
