Fire wrecks farm building
A FARM shed was wrecked in a blaze yesterday evening (May 8).
The fire was discovered at around 5.45pm at Oak Farm, Goose Green Lane, Thakeham.
It was started by a spark from a small bonfire which set light to a large log pile next to the back of the warehouse.
This caught the end of the building alight and it spread very quickly through the end two bays.
There were no chemicals on site, just large amounts of packaging materials which ignited very quickly.
There were several fire crews from various areas including, Littlehampton, Findon, Crawley, Storrington and Horsham and the road was closed until early morning.
Two fire crews remained at the scene overnight and were still there at 12.44pm, damping down and ensuring the scene is safe.
The owner of the property has thanked the fire crews for their speedy response and hard work.
