SEA views can once more be enjoyed even when the wind is up and the rain comes down, thanks to the rebuilding of a popular shelter at Rustington.

The roof and sides of the original building, where Sea Lane meets Sea Road, were blown off the brick base during gales in March last year, but now its replacement has been completed, providing a fine vantage point.

Sue Lines, vice-chairman of Rustington Parish Council, said: "The council is delighted to have the new shelter for both residents and visitors to enjoy for, hopefully, many years to come, and is also very pleased to have been able to have the work done so well by a local company."

Toddington-based Above All Roofing rebuilt the shelter to a traditional design, with joinery by Worthing firm Brent Taunton.

The new shelter was delayed because the original estimates obtained were much greater than the sum covered by insurance, but the parish council then received a more favourable quote from Above All Roofing.
