A CELEBRATION of sporting excellence marks the opening day of Glorious Goodwood on Tuesday July 27, when the day will also support the charity
Tickets for Troops.
And there is also a chance for Sussex Horse World readers to win tickets for this spectacular opening day.

As well as welcoming soldiers, sailors and airmen on the day, who will attend this Sporting Greats Day for free, Goodwood will also welcome
rugby legend Lawrence Dallaglio, racecourse ambassador for the day.
Tickets for Troops will also benefit from the proceeds of a raceday lunch hosted by Lawrence Dallaglio.

The charity is dedicated to offering free tickets for major cultural and sporting events to serving men and women.

Lord March, chairman of Goodwood, said: "We are delighted that Lawrence will be the ambassador for Sporting Greats Day. Not only did Lawrence
reach the apex of his profession as a rugby player, but
since retiring he has done fantastic work promoting a range
of causes through his own Dallaglio Foundation.

"Add to that the fact that he is passionate about horseracing
and is a racehorse owner himself and it is clear that he is perfectly placed to promote Sporting Greats Day at Glorious
Goodwood."

During his 15 year career in professional rugby, Lawrence
Dallaglio captained England, won the World Cup and led his
club, London Wasps, to unprecedented success.

He is also keen follower of racing. He has experienced
the thrill of racehorse ownership at first hand through his involvement with Highclere Thoroughbred Racing and currently has shares in two horses in training, including an unbeaten three year old called Decorative.

Lawrence Dallaglio said: "The icing on the cake would be to have a
runner at Glorious Goodwood and I'm hoping that Decorative might be able to run during the course of the meeting.

"She's unbeaten so far in two starts and it's very exciting to be involved with a filly of her potential."

Tickets to Sporting Greats Day and the rest of Glorious
Goodwood are still available, to book tickets please call the
ticket office on 01243 755 255
