The final of the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup for the British Open Polo Championship will be held on Sunday, July 20, at Cowdray Park, Midhurst.
Inaugurated by the late John Cowdray, 3rd Viscount, in 1956, the Gold Cup is considered the most coveted trophy in the world of polo.

Cowdray Park's polo manager, Chris Bethell, predicts an entry of at least 20 teams and the tournament will open four days early – on Tuesday, June 24 – this year.

He said: "Ten years ago we expected around a dozen teams to enter the British Open but we have seen entry levels creep up year on year and now must allow extra time to accommodate the matchplay this entails."
