Pensioner hurt after tackling chip fire

A PENSIONER was hurt after he tried to tackle a chip pan fire and spilt hot oil on his leg.
Firefighters rushed to Choda House, Commonwealth Drive, Northgate, at 7pm yesterday (Tuesday September 1).

South East Coast Ambulance Service paramedics treated the man for burns at the scene.

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to a property in Choda House. An elderly gentleman had been injured attempting to deal with a chip pan fire.

"Paramedics treated him for burns at the scene."
