February is heart month

As you may already know February is National Heart Month when the nation’s heart charity, the British Heart Foundation (BHF), encourages the Great British public to think about their hearts and the hearts of those around them.

We also use this time to urge the UK to raise vital funds for us and this year saw our first ever Rock Up In Red event take place with people across the South East donning their best red items and donating £2 to us on the 1st of February.

In the South East, there are 275,471 people living with heart disease. We have seen people in the area support us in various ways including a ‘bring and buy’sale and a red tie ball.

We are hugely grateful for the funds raised so far, which will go towards supporting the 2.3 million people in the UK currently living with heart disease.

With this in mind, we wanted to call on your readers to continue to support us as there is still time to get involved with National Heart Month and fundraise for the BHF’s life-saving work.

Readers can hold a red bake sale, challenge friends and family to a quiz or organise their own Rock Up In Red event. You can also buy a love note or pin badge at your local BHF shop.

For more information and tips on how to fundraise, visit at bhf.org.uk/red or call the hotline on 0300 330 0645.

Fundraising Volunteer Manager, South East
