Students from across the area will be getting into pole position this weekend as part of an annual electric car racing competition.
Goodwood Motor Circuit will again be hosting the Greenpower Finals on Sunday, with pupils from Seaford College, St Paul's Catholic College, Slindon College and Westbourne House School taking part.

The youngsters, aged from 11 upwards, will be show
casing their design and engineering skills when they take to the track in their single-seater cars.

Powered by a 24volt electric motor and two 12volt batteries, each car has been designed to be capable of competing in a four-hour endurance race.

The Formula 24+ class for teams aged 16 and over will start at 10.30am for a 90-minute sprint, then at 1pm the Earl of March, who is the patron of Greenpower, and Arundel MP Nick Herbert will be dropping the flag for the start of the Formula 24 endurance.

Competitors and spectators will also get the chance to see other innovations in motoring engineering at an exhibition which will feature a full-scale model of the Bloodhound SSC, the vehicle which is aiming to break the land speed record.

Richard Noble and world-renowned aerodynamicist Ron Ayres will also be on hand to answer questions.
